The Wall-Gazing Brahmin
A brahmin was found standing before a wall, utterly still and silent.
Bodhidharma saw him and asked,
"
Why are you standing here?" The brahmin replied,
"I am seeking the wisdom of the Buddha." Bodhidharma said,
"Your bones have turned to ash, yet you have not attained it. If you seek true wisdom, it cannot be reached by standing still." Hearing this, the brahmin wept and said,
"Then show me the true path." Bodhidharma said,
"Follow me." The brahmin turned to follow, but in that moment of turning, he was enlightened.
